Delicate calls - Original Music for @dsound & @steemit @darrenclaxton

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Delicate Calls is an ambient soundtrack of unknown genre. It has elements of Massive Attack and Portishead with that Trip-Hop kind of vibe.
It was written as I improvised the String parts on my vintage Yamaha SY 88 synth.
There were only 5 tracks used in total, the drums were a loop that I made using the inbuilt touch sensitive pads, on my Porta-Studio. Tambourine and Darbuka drum were played using real instruments. My vocal was captured using 1 stereo track. Very little mastering has been done to the track so it stands untouched so far. I think it has a really eerie, soundtrack vibe to it that wouldn't be out of place in a movie scene.

Lyrics -

Delicate calls from the fable
wandering minds are calling still
rescued my bones, get what you paid for
turning me up, inside and out

Selling your soul to be accepted
racing around to go without
wasting a day with thoughts a plenty
hearing a call but there's no sound

So deserves the day
fears have gone away
taking back the need for options
did you find the time
believe you're sound of mind
release the conversation flavours.

Thanks for listening to my new track.

Darren

I'm continuing my quest to find some funding and developers for my 'Buy My Music' button for us musicians!
Selling your music for Steem and SBD - Growth-Project -

You Can buy 'Delicate Calls' by clicking Buy My Music and kindly donating some Steem or SBD to my Wallet
This is an avenue I've been exploring for a few weeks now, as some Steemians were asking me they could buy my music! I'ts on a total honesty level at present, until I find a way to get some code written for us creatives here on the platform.
Myself and @omitaylor were both discussing this project yesterday and wrote similar posts.

Definitely captured the heart of trip hop - a few artists do the genre well...you are definitely one of them

Thanks for the compliment! It was unintended to create that Trip Hop vibe but it somehow developed into that genre!
Cheers again

A little different than you usually Stuff ,loving that percussion , Wonderful musical adventure , yes this would fit in a movie scene for sure .

Great stuff Darren, this song is very haunting. I think this will get stuck; another one of those earworms!

It's very different to my usual releases but like to experiment.

Not my style, but that's not really relevant to you making what you like to make. My only real complaint is the tambourine volume level. Other than that, it sounds like a decent track with a good mix of sounds for that weird ambience you seem to be trying to get.

Thanks for your constructive feedback.
I agree with you regarding the tambourine. This is so different to my usual releases.
Cheers

Interesting track to say the least. I like the way you layered everything up then the vocals on top of that. Vocals are nice and upfront and clear in the mix.

Thanks for popping in for a listen! It was an improvised track built around the keys.
Very different from my usual country indie folk stuff.
Cheers again
Darren

YOU BLOW MY MIND DEAR DAZ <3

And you're too kind lady! ♥

This is so unique. Definitely my taste! I'm resteeming this haha

This is fantastic fusion Darren! superb sonorities, loving heatbeat beat and tablas with all classical scapes ...... and I would say it is indeed pure Trip-hop, as it was designed ..... some years back ..... it was a dark, warm night at Coachella fields, only flares of lights and few dozen thousands people not breathing, listening Portishead art - the atmos created was unbelievable. You take me there, bro! true ... thinking, I want to post something tomorrow, so you know I dig it here very much ;)

Darbuka - that's exact tabla sound here ... just read :) you rocking it man, I am listening it really carefully and enjoying much. Great variation and changes, with signature power increase as song develops :) (great that you plan to prod it more. It would be perfect now in speakers, but in the large cans, my left ear is fully deaf and right is itching haha it is unbearable!!!! swapping phones now lol)

Ahh man! glad you dig it so much!
Go ahead and write a post about it, I'd be honoured!
Cheers
Darren
