My First time in a Car Crash

in #drivinglast year

After more than fifty years on this planet, I have finally experienced my first car crash. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen. But it did.

I had wondered if I’d make it my whole life without ever hearing or feeling that crunch. Or waited around thinking maybe it would be my fault.

But it wasn’t. I was rear-ended while waiting to do a left hand turn. And it wasn’t severe but it was sudden.

And then she took off. WTF?!?

I thought that when she reversed and got into the other lane that she was just going to pull off to get out of traffic. No she high-tailed it out of there. Without eve stopping to check the damage, I took off after her.

I managed to get a couple of pics and my kiddo (I had two of the kids in the car when it happened) got some too as much he perp sped away. We ended up losing her after the second turn………

Only to find her parked in the driveway next door to us and getting out. Yes it was her, our crazy neighbor pulling a hit and run!!!

Not a surprise. Her life is very obviously a mess, they’ve had the police at their doo several times since they moved in there about two months ago. There is constant violence coming from there and we suspect they are deep in the city’s seedy drug-fuelled underbelly, maybe even some pretty big players there.

I wonder if this is the straw though. I’m perusing legal action. The car is ok with some cosmetic damage. I’m dealing with whiplash supreme today. I’ve made statements to the police and insurance so we will see where it goes from here.

It’s not fun living next door to them… and now she’s taken away my verve for driving. I’m shaken up

But I’m also very angry that someone would do that to me. Sure, an accident is one thing but leaving the scene is a crime.

Will keep you posted.
