A Limoncello is a southern Italy lemon liquor. It's famous in Naples and especially also for the area around Amalfi.
So should you travel to that area take the chance to get some original liquor.

Here is my way to make it (about 750 ml)
You need:
150 ml of pure alcohol
1 lemon
500 ml water
150 gr white sugar

1st - get some pure alcohol and 1 lemon

2nd - Pour around 150 ml in a closable container. An old (of course clean) jam jar is perfectly suitable for it.

3rd - wash the lemon and peel the highest yellow skin off. While doing it take care to peel only the yellow skin without any of the white one, since the white part would make it bitter. To get it done a potato peeler works perfect.
Put all yellow skin parts to the alcohol in your jam jar and let it be there. Set it aside to a place where it doesn't get too much direct sun light.

4th - let it be for about 2 weeks or more. You can see how the alcohol turns yellow and the former yellow skin is turning white.

5th - after those weeks everything is nearly ready to have a taste. Just take about 500 ml of water and around 150 gr of white sugar. Boil the water and pour the sugar into it. Just let the sugar water cool down and you are ready to mix it with your alcohol.

6th - have a taste, invite a friend and enjoy it :D

If you like you can also add now a squeeze of lemon juice.
Depending on how you like it, it's of course also possible to use less water to make it stronger or add more sugar to make it sweeter.
