The House - step by step
At least ! After some very busy days, I found some time to go on with my drawings for my story.
You will have to wait for the story to know why, but this time the illustration is the inside of a house, in an old style.
Let's start with a raw drawing with pencil, from different models to find the different elements, that I add in the same drawing.
It's time for ink : a lots of work, because a lots of details ! And this time I want to give some textures to the different materials, especially the wood.
Done ! Now the best part, the colors !^^
It will be with brown as dominant color, since most of the elements of this interior is made of wood. So the challenge is to find enough shade of brown (from "yellow-brown" to "purple-brown").
The other challenge is to deal with all the details ! A lots of work to do !^^
The plan is of course to start with large areas, and then step by step to little details and shadowing.
And here is our illustration done ! See you soon to know what happens in the story...
Beautiful, @djacbaweur <3 Love the step by step presentation so much <3 The way you establish the sketch, ink and colour are just absolutely delightful <3 I love this piece very much * ___ *
Looking forward to the story :D
Thank youuu ! ^^ I'm proud of this one, with all these details to do !
What a great illustration, Djac. Just gorgeous. I love looking at the step by step pictures, little by little, the colours make it more and more alive, until at the end it makes an elegant artworks. I really like looking at the lighting at the floor and the subtle shadow of the room versus the more contrasting shadow of the stairs. Very lovely.
Congratulations for another curie vote, you definitely deserve it for this gorgeous artworks :).
Thank you so much @scrawly, the curie vote is always impressive ! :)
Great illustration! I love how you established the lights and shadows. Your style gives me the vintage illustrations vibe, the ones you see in old fairytale books. I love it! <3
In fact old fairytale it's a little bit the idea, since the story I tell with these drawings takes place in a fantasy world ! Thanks for your comment !

Oh boy!
What a draw?!
Its quite easy to see but to draw what we see needs much visualization, creativeness and imagination.
You've made it Djac!
I'm eager to read your story. I'm waiting...
Make it fast lol!
The story is coming ! And for the imagination, I have to admit that I had a lots of models when creating the drawing ^^
It still requires a hugely talented imagination to filter out what is not needed and allow in what is needed. Then imagine the light and shadow. Then imagine the colors. I'm exhausted already!
That's cool!
What are those models? Of course not those beautiful models lol!
Drawing models I guess.
Beautiful! Love the step by step presentation. Looks like an old house in Slovakia! 😊
Thanks ! ^^ It's not Slovakia, actually, you will see if you follow the story...
I know it's not :) It just looks like old houses there :) We have open - air museums and interior of the house that you painted looks similar :)
EDIT: Congratulations on the curie vote!
I love it! Very wonderful wooden colors which you used in this picture :-) 👌😀 also great to see the process how you painted it - step for step👍
have you already selected a nice frame for the picture?
Ha ha, no frame yet ! Thank you !
Hey @djacbaweur, thank you for sharing such nice, detailed work. I love the wood texture, you are right with black ink it looks like the natural cracks and spaces. I bet it took you so time to finish the details, I wonder how big the format of paper you used, the bigger one is easier to do the details, I love hte clor combination and you started with pale and went into more deep, concentrated one. Only I could not find is it water color you used? I assume it is but just wanted to clarify. Congratulation for such compoud and expressive artwork, really inviting, I wonder what is on the attic :)
Cheers, from Art-supporting blog @art-venture
Thanks for the compliments ! :) The paper is simply A4, and it's watercolors indeed
