North Korean - Behind the curtain #1 PartsteemCreated with Sketch.

Among many news against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (or simply North Korea) we decided to spend some days to get in touch by ourselves with this isolated country and the experience was life changing.

Me and my girlfriend hired a chinese company (Young Pionners Tours) and our tour started at the freezing Dandong, where we took a train to Pyongyang, that stopped at Sinuiju for the immigratory procedures, during which the officers review our eletronic devices (cellphones, laptops, tablets and cameras) and books to search for non-authorized items, such as cameras with GPS and books against the regime or with religious content. I supposed it would be more rigid than it were in fact, as I was worried about some tourist brochures and the public transportation card from South Korea that I had in my luggage and wallet.

Having passed over the formalities with flying colours we continued in our way to Pyongyang drinking our first North Korean beer: Taedonggang.

From the train it is possible to see many rice and chard plantations and many people working on it. It is also common the see many "ox cars" that are used to plow the lands and many people riding their bikes.

The first sight of their capital is impressive as Pyongyang has brand new buildings and many monuments, as you are going to see in the following posts.
