• The readers should pay for the quality news.
• Articles should be free for readers, the sites must live from ads (advertisements).
• Sites (with ads) should pay to the visitors for reading.
• News should be free but journalists should be paid from other sources (government, non-government organizations).
• News should be paid from voluntary donations only.
• Other (please, comment)

Many of these are legitimate approaches. There is no One True Way of sharing news. I am least inclined to have governments peddle news. But there is a place even for that.
