Docking Sticks- possibly useful for skiffs and other boats sitting low at / near the docks
YouTube algorithm for the win again; just passing along in case it keeps your skiff from snuggling up under the dock. I'll get to this project eventually but not a bad DIY idea!
I see it's been a while since this was posted, but I just wanted to ask if anyone's tried using a short boat hook or even a homemade stick with a rubber tip for quick push-offs or pulling in while tied up. Seems like a cheap and simple way to deal with low gunnels at the dock. Curious if that worked for anyone or if there's a better setup you've found.
I had the same challenge with my skiff, especially in windy conditions. I ended up getting a pair of those fiberglass docking sticks, and they’ve helped a ton with control and keeping the hull from banging the pilings. If you're setting up dock space or planning for better access points, I had good luck working with https://floridaliftsanddocks.com/ for advice and a clean setup.
