Harrison, we have a problem! - CANADA VLOG EP. 06
The conversion now really begins. After I got Harrison back with the bigger holes patched, I started by putting him back together. Mounted the seats and interior panels, as well as two new mirrors and seals we picked up at the scrapyard.
First thing to do: Put a window in the roof. There was a window in before, but the pre-owner took it out and closed it with a sheet of metal. Unscrew it, cleaning the edge, new window in, putting sealant on it. We don't want it to leak, do we?
Because I want to be off grid for a couple of days, I need to put a second battery in, as well as a solar panel on the roof. To mount the panel, I again needed to drill holes into the roof. The cables also need to go through a hole each. Again, I head to cover all of these with sealant. After I wired all these things up, the second battery now gets juice from the solar panel, as well as the alternator when we're moving. Neat, huh?
After all of this was mounted, I had to put in the floor, which should ideally be insulated. I started by putting wooden studs on the floor and filling up the spaces in between with polystyrene. Over that, a sheet of plywood was placed. Once the interior is in, I will also put a carpet over that. It will be nice and cozy in here.
But the further I went with the conversion, I started to recognize that my funds are running low. I worked in 4 Jobs at once for half a year to fund my budget, but especially the registration and the van itself did cost me a lot. On top, I have the feeling that I've been staying at my friends for too long now. It is getting kind of awkward here. I need to move somehow, but Harrison is all I got. What should I do?
