A small city in Brazil is making basic income a reality

About 52,000 people in the small Brazilian city of Maricá, near Rio de Janeiro, will get a form of "Universal Basic Income" (UBI) from the municipality.
The amount will be about $64 per person per month, accessed through a local currency that can only be used in the city.
Interesting to follow, as this may be the largest scale ever for a Universal Basic Income experiment.
