DIY Greeting Card Making Contest | Pop-up Cards in a Pop-up Card | An Entry to @mermaidvampire's Contest
This may look like an ordinary card, but wait until you see what's inside.
Ever since I was young, I have always been fascinated by making DIY's to my loved ones especially when there is a special occasion. I create cards that are personalized and give it to them as a gift. Each piece that I make has a unique touch and exceptional. Every time I hand in what I made for them, I feel happy with their reactions and amazement of how I crafted it.
Yesterday, ate @ediah sent me a link to this greeting card making contest by @mermaidvampire and I got enticed to participate. Luckily, I was really thinking of making a card for my sister-at-heart and best friend for her birthday this coming Sunday, March 25. For her last birthday, I have made her an exploding box that took me 3 weeks to almost a month to finish it.
This was the exploding box I made for her birthday last year.
So for this year, I made something new for her.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Construction Papers (Assorted colors)
Scissors
Cutter
Jute Strings
Washi Tapes
Brush Markers
Signo BallPen (White)
Colored Fine Pens
Ballpen/Sign Pen 0.3
Ruler
Pencil
Glue
Decorative Cutters
Below is the process how I made DIY Pop-up cards in a Pop-up Card.
MAKING THE CARD
(1) you need 4 8x8 construction papers.
(7) Do this to the other 3 papers and it will look like these. Arrange all the cards according to your preference and color combination before sticking it up with each other.
(9) On the front page, I covered it with green paper because my best friend's obsessed with this color.
(12) I took my jute twine. Measured it according to how long I need it to close and hold the card and inserted it in the whole.
(14) For the front page, I cut out letters on a bright-colored paper and shadowed it with a dark colored paper to let it pop out.
(15) I glued it to the front page and wrote my best friend's name below it with the use of brush pens and decorated it with the white pen. I put in ABC's because I placed an alphabetically arranged qualities she has inside the card.
MAKING THE POP-UPS
(16) I wrote the "32 qualities Joyce have" in a separate construction paper because she'll be turning 32 this coming Sunday. I cut it out and pasted it into the first card. I also placed a pop-out corner.
(17) I used my decorative cutters, the flower, and the leaf, on the appropriate colors for the flowers and leaves to be decorated on that popping out corner.
(18) I wrote the good qualities of Joyce and cut it into smaller pieces just enough to fit on the flowers.
(24) I arranged the balloons and made a weaving pattern with the green strips. This is how the second card looks like.
(25) For the third card, I used a popping out spiral heart. I drew an outline of a heart and cut out the lines. I made two of these.
(26) I stick the largest parts of the heart and glued it to the card. I also stick the little hearts connecting each other and decorated the remaining qualities I wrote around it.
(27) For the last and fourth card, I decided to make a popping-out birthday greeting. I made an outline on a piece of paper.
(29) I then put a pink background to make the message readable when it pops out. This is then the fourth pop-up card.
After seeing all that I have done, I got satisfied with it since I put in a lot of effort. I'll be adding maybe a personal letter and I choose not to post it since I want it to be private. While I was making these, I'm inspired to finish it because I want my best friend to be surprised on her birthday and so far, I have nothing to give her, only this. I spent hours just to finish this one and yes, making DIY's are tiring but I enjoy doing it at the same time.
I'd like to invite my cousin @jemmanuel and his friends @jancharlest, @jerikoponteras, @milayosawa to make one too. (wink)
I hope you guys learned how to make one through the steps I have shown you.
Keep creating! Unleash your creativity.
Much love,
Kayenine
