Reclaimed display ladder build - 3/23
Back at it again with little time to spare. We needed another display ladder to kickstart the Super succulent celebration at Waterwise Botanical. Event goes today and tomorrow Saturday March 24th 8am-4pm .....Come see @Madpotters if you have a chance :)
Same Basic Concept here guys making 2 ladders connected at the top with brass hinges. Simple design. Hope you enjoy the Pics and the Vid of me scraping the hell out of this wood lol
## Cutting and Measuring were the fun steps in this build. Since the wood had been used as an outdoor fence for many years the paint was caked on and baked in .
Love the Naturally distressed look that came out after sanding and staining ....So Fun!
Be Blessed and Grow On!
If you Enjoyed never hurts to resteem :)
naturally distressed...are you referring to me?!? LMAO.
WOW! im surprised you went to shaving off the paint. I have never done that, easy? I only ask because I would have taken an angle grinder with a flap disk to it, but honestly im digging the grooves that are made by that scrapper. Gives an old world feel.
that's the only reason why i used the scrapper . i had sanded the first one i did and the grain came out really smooth. This one we wanted a more rustic look keeping some of the paint
and no not the easiest lol
I kinda had the same question about sanding. My thought would be to use a belt sander. But then, it wouldn't show quite the same texture. But the final is after the Stain? Very solid. Did it do what you wanted it to do?
Some what unintended effect that came out awesome in the end
Ive done a bunch of old wood renovation. I am a big fan of the scraper for quick removal of paint without damaging the wood. I paricularly like swedish Cabinet scrapers, You get them in a set of three sapes, so you can do curves and angles.
omg i so glad i bought that scraper, ill check out the Swedish ones
These guys! (wear gloves, they are sharp...
