From modern kitchen to shabby, diy.
When we women get married, what is the first thing we think about?
We are sincere about it! Our future HOME!
Our love nest, where you can build memories and spend days full of love....
When my husband and I got married to each other, there was so much desire to be together under the same umbrella.
that we did not give much importance to the furniture... we had little time (about 10 months) and therefore we were a bit satisfied with what the market offered and above all with what was fashionable.
I remember that about four years ago I was fixed with the television series "Gossip Girl and Dan's apartment (who is who doesn't know GG dai) and so I imagined our house as an American loft, full of different furniture, with warm colors and a modern design. The only thing I wanted in romantic style was the bedroom, but Joseph continued to tell me that he would never live there in the doll house! And so making me conditioned by him and taken from the desire to make early, we furnished our house not exactly as we dreamt.
before.....
after that!!
in the Christmas period .
Over time I realized that it wasn't the environment in which I wanted to live... it was too cold for me, I didn't like to spend days at home because I didn't like even taking a coffee with a friend sitting at my table because I hated it.
That's how I started slowly, month after month, to change everything a little bit!
Today it's not over yet, but it represents 100% of my romantic soul and style and staying at home doesn't displease me at all... indeed, it relaxes me.
some details of how it was before....
with my friends at lunch.... here you can see well how well the kitchen was....
my kitchen that I love so much.... the fruit of a lot of patience and love....
Many of you asked me how do I buy old furniture and turn it into shabby/country chic pieces?
So today I want to reveal my technique and the products I use today.
Those who have followed me for some time know that I had a modern, red and brown kitchen. Today it is a romantic white and pink cuisine.
The first thing I did was to buy some indispensable products for the final yield: -the primer that I then use as the final fixture is that it allows you not to sandpaper the furniture and make them washable.
chalck paint (matt water painting)
A good good brush with natural bristles if it is possible or not too synthetic.
Before starting to pass through the fixer (which only has to be passed on very glossy furniture; for example I put it only on the kitchen doors... on those of the sideboard not) I dusted or washed the furniture well, disassembling (if necessary) the parts that have to be repainted.
Once I have passed the fixative, I simply apply painting on the furniture trying to follow the direction of the wood grain. So if the cabinet has vertical veins, I will brush vertically from top to bottom and vice versa.
the sideboard with only one coat of painting....
I always apply two coats of paint (the second only after the first one has dried well, then after a couple of hours) because with only one coat it is difficult to completely cover the old colour of the furniture.
Once I have finished with the two pastes of painting, with glass paper scratch the outer points of the furniture such as edges or friezes, to give that effect of vintage and worn out.
Finally, step down the fixer to make the paint washable and protect it.
Don't worry about being too precise.... after all, the Shabby Chic style (which has stolen the heart of all of us) requires furniture that seems to be worn or otherwise experienced enough.
All the paintings that I use are natural so they can also be used at home.... and for me that I have a little helper is perfect!
Sometimes change the handles or knobs, but depends on the cabinet.
the end result I love too much....
Believe me girls is simpler than what it looks like! In two full days I have changed a whole kitchen.... at low cost... and the thing that makes me happy is that I know it's a unique piece... because it was born from my hands!
Wow! Lovely home :)
