If Steem crashes tomorow..I'm still ahead.
Furthermore...right now Steem is $.90...and it's hung at 'about' that for a good while.
I hung with steem when it was a nickel...ninety cents is GREAT.
Yup. - Although my problem with converting anything into tangible money is a problem (at the moment) - forces me to accrue, I suppose! lol.
If I get my thousands, can I send you some lite coin to convert, and paypal it to me once its in your account ? lol
If you get your thousands...on any amount...I'd rather not be responsible.

you might consider transferring steem to someother crypto..like you said...litecoin perhaps?
then when the opportunity presents itself you can cash in to fiat.
It ain't looking that easy over here, I'm afraid. - from what I have researched so far, at any rate. (a pesky U.S thing)
Although I am optimistic things will change as far as the crypto accessible market worldwide ( in the near future hopefully).
There are exchanges available ( I think) -
but you are still putting faith in unknown people converting to paypal for you.
I'd prefer to give yousome money for the transaction as opposed to an username on a site I don't know/ never conversed with)
All the really old grumpy gits I have met in my travels so far seem to be either :

or Total scam artist, with lots of character!
It's not an issue at the moment, anyway - I'm still steemin' and accumulating.
