How does a bumpkey work?
Wie funktioniert ein Schlagschlüssel?
On a bumpkey, the beard looks almost like a saw. Mostly all of the cuts are milled to the deepest cutting depth.
Bei Schlagschlüsseln sieht der Bart fast aus wie eine Säge. Meist sind alle Einschnitte auf die Tiefste Schnitttiefe gefräst.
The bumpkey is inserted into the profile cylinder as far as it will go and then pulled out again by 1 tooth.
Der Schlagschlüssel wird bis auf Anschlag in den Profilzylinder gesteckt und anschließend wieder um 1 Zahn herausgezogen.
If the bump key is knocked into the cylinder with a kind of hammer (screwdriver handle, etc.), a gap is created between the core- and housing pins, as in billiards, so that the key can be turned in this short moment.
Wenn der Schlagschlüssel nun mit einer Art Hammer (Schraubendrehergriff, etc.) in den Zylinder geklopft wird, entsteht wie beim Billard ein Spalt zwischen den Kern- und den Gehäusestiften, sodas der Schlüssel in diesem kurzen Moment gedreht werden kann.
