Die Flickr-Übernahme durch SmugMug führt zu Veränderungen in den Geschäftsbedingungen. Wie in vielen ähnlichen Fällen, betrifft dies "natürlich" das Finanzielle.

Wer nicht zahlen will, muss mit Verlusten rechnen

Konnte bisher ein jeder Flickr-Nutzer kostenlos über 1 Terrabyte Speicherplatz verfügen, so ist es ab 2019 anscheinend damit vorbei! Nur wer sich bereit erklärt ca. 50 $ im Jahr - für dann allerdings unbegrenzte Speicherkapazität - zu zahlen, muss sich um seine Fotos auch in Zukunft keine Sorgen machen.

Wer diese Ausgabe jedoch scheut, wird sich von Bildern, die die nun gültige Höchstgrenze von 1000 Stück überschreiten, "verabschieden" müssen. So wurde es sinngemäß auf der Plattform angekündigt.

Gleichzeitig wurde ein Datum bekanntgegeben zu dem die Löscharbeiten beginnen sollen, der 5. Februar ist der Tag, bis zu dem auf die Pro-Version umgestellt werden muss, oder eben bis zu dem der User die Möglichkeit hat, seine überzähligen Bilder auf seiner Festplatte zu sichern. Danach ist wohl keine Datenrettung mehr möglich.

Auch der Modus für das Löschen der Bilder wurde bekanntgegeben, es werden die ältesten Bilder entfernt, bis das Limit von 1000 nicht mehr überschritten wird.

Es gibt allerdings eine Ausnahme

Bilder die vor dem 1.November 2018 hochgeladen wurden und unter Creative-Commons geführt werden sind von der "Vernichtung" ausgenommen. Selbst wenn sie auch die 1000 Bildergrenze überschreiten, sollen sie weiterhin auf Flickr verfügbar bleiben. Wer von dieser Ausnahmeregelung betroffen ist, kann allerdings seinem Account erst wieder neue Bilder hinzufügen, wenn er sich dazu bereit erklärt, die rund 50 $ jährlich zu entrichten.

If you don't want to pay, you'll have to expect losses

Up to now every Flickr user could have 1 Terrabyte of storage free of charge, but from 2019 it seems to be over! Only those who agree to pay about $50 a year - for unlimited storage capacity - will not have to worry about their photos in the future.

However, those who shy away from this edition will have to "say goodbye" to pictures that exceed the now valid maximum limit of 1000 photos. This is how it was announced on the platform.

At the same time a date was announced at which the deletion work is to begin, 5 February is the day, up to which to the pro version must be changed over, or evenly up to which the user has the possibility of saving its surplus pictures on its non removable disk. After that no data recovery is possible anymore.

Also the mode for the deletion of the pictures was announced, the oldest pictures are removed, until the limit of 1000 is not exceeded any more.

However, there is one exception

Pictures uploaded before November 1, 2018 and listed under Creative-Commons are excluded from "destruction". Even if they exceed the 1000 image limit, they will still be available on Flickr. However, anyone affected by this exception will not be able to add new images to their account until they agree to pay the $50 or so per year.
