RE: Verspätete Adventsgrüße oder: Alles eine Frage der PERSPEKTIVE
Hi chriddi,
A challenge for me linguistically, philosophically and technically. But the essence of the exercise...to make me think, that I gained.
I don't like Nietsche at all. So he can keep his perspective 😄
This is an intriguing piece, and I can see by the comments that readers are intrigued-- according their individual perspectives :)
I take no position on reality. The idea that thinking proves anything...maybe Einstein and quantum mechanics threw a monkey wrench into that one.
I'm reduced to the most simple formula: pain is real and happiness is real, in the moment. So I do what I can to reduce one and increase the other, whenever and wherever my modest abilities allow. This may be a facile philosophy, but it feels good. At my age, that is sufficient. 😊
Have a wonderful 2020.
Warm regards, AG
Hello AG,
thank you for having dealt so intensively with the poem, its message and the amazement of the commenting users.
I think the author does not want to make the reader accept an opinion, a belief. She points out exactly what you make clear: Reality is there, there is not much we can do about it. But it is up to us how we view reality. We decide for ourselves whether we want to inflict (mental) pain on ourselves by looking at it or not. The linguistic translation of this essence by the poet is a work of art!
To you and your loved ones a good start into the New Year, an eventful and healthy 2020!
Virtual embrace,
Chriddi
