RE: delegated to the @finallynetwork because of sam’s vision and the @steem-ua project because we need a bigger influencer conversation.
I'm ambivalent about steem-ua for all the reasons you say, plus the spam comment that appears on my blog every time they vote. I have replied that it's not helpful, neither the content which is the same every time (except for the snakes and ladders of my looney tunes rank), nor having it all over my blog like a rash. I'm also not wild that this rank might be how airdrops are allocated in the future ... but yes, here we are having a conversation 😎
so there ya go. it partly worked, plus i can take the delegation 'back' at any point. all i saw at first was a 'leaderboard' (please. .. ) and like an algorithm which is not public/open source -- now i realise you gotta like keep something back when ya doing that kinda thing but yeah feels like something designed by people that don't like that other people are getting up to the same rep as them -- in fact i've seen people say things like oh well they used bidbots etc.. where as i've been grinding as a mod.... lots of replies and interfacing, that alone is influence, how i got there was GRIND.
but of course the WAY you grind is important when it threatened someones perceived reputation and that's a big problem with just letting it be an algo that a group of people who like to create cliches develop, it's not a non-bias algorithm and then generates a 'cool kids' environment.
i've already seen people comparing UA scores and talking about 'beating each other' -- of course, in jest, always in jest right? :)
opening up what value, engagement, influence means to one another and the way that metrics are used these days to invest media spends i think is a huge conversation about another thing we don't talk about and that's greed and ineffective spending of said (new money) resources -- until we really open up that can of worms we won't really have progressed much further and instead we have the same people trying to hold onto their superiority complexes of gentrified intellect as i'm calling it.
airdrops from my experience so far only work for a quick spurt, and even then you have all these wallets of tokens for something that you have no idea of the outcome on because they all exist in a state of cryo statis of perceived value anyway, it's all speculation.
speculation is driven by buzz and buzz driven by storytelling, storytelling by people with self-driven agendas, i'd love to the see the algo ranking on that.
. .. man, too much happiness, i need more coffee! :)
I'm laughing here! You're right, everything you're saying and that's a conversation that needs to be had. Certainly looking forward to seeing you at SteemFest!
