DeepOnion Whitepaper - Short Summary
DeepOnion has constantly been attacked from a long time primarily since there was no whitepaper to prove that it is a legit coin and many people enjoyed spreading FUD even though the developers had clearly stated that there was a whitepaper being actively developed. Would like to see the look on their faces now that the whitepaper has been released(Alpha version currently). The haters of DeepOnion think that they can take down DeepOnion because of their constant FUD war against this coin, but they forget that the DeepOnion community is a lot bigger than them and the supporters outnumber the haters by a huge margin.
Initially, the whitepaper talks about what DeepOnion actually is which is a TOR based crypto-currency that helps users conduct online transactions in a completely anonymous manner. Privacy is highlighted here and the integration of TOR browser is crucial here and this is one reason why DeepOnion is superior to other anonymous crypto coins like Monero, Dash etc. Next, the anonymity problem with bitcoin is highlighted with examples. Basically, bitcoin transactions can be traced to the identity of the user through exchanges etc and the ip address of the user over which the transactions are conducted can also be traced through specific methods which means that bitcoin transactions are not 100% anonymous.
DeepOnion is superior when compared to bitcoin when it comes to providing absolute anonymity and scalability and speed which were also discussed in full length. DeepOnion's vision is discussed and a multi-layered security model is discussed which talks about the different layers like application layer(DeepVault), transaction layer(DeepSend), protocol layer(Zero Knowledge) and transport layer(TOR) which specify how DeepOnion ensures 100% anonymous transactions through these layers.
The DeepOnion roadmap is explained in a pictorial manner and this clearly depicts the bright future of DeepOnion. Next, the specifications of DeepOnion are explained which talk about both the POW(Proof Of Work) and POS(Proof Of Stake) aspects of this coin. Terms like x13 Algorithm, Emission Model and Network Model are explained here.
The whitepaper next discusses how the DeepOnion developers are conducting the distribution of this coin. Basically, majority of the coins have been pre-mined(90%) are being airdropped to users on a weekly basis and encourages them to hold the coins until the end of the airdrop for maximum profit which is beneficial to both the users and the coin itself. The big question regarding whether developers would dump their coins when a specific target is met which would hurt the coin in a major way is also answered here.
The community(social) aspect of DeepOnion(I consider this as the primary identifying feature of this coin) is explained in a detailed manner. The DeepOnion community is a proud community filled with people from around the world who are ready to support this coin no matter what happens. If you wish to find about more about the DeepOnion community, check out https://deeponion.org/community to learn more.
The technological aspect of DeepOnion is highlighted next. Terms like blockchain, blockchain scalability, cryptocurrency,TOR are discussed and an explanation is given as to how DeepOnion is superior to both bitcoin and Ethereum when it comes to transaction speeds(DeepOnion----->62.5 transactions per second) which clearly displays the power of this coin and makes it a much more viable instant payment solution. An explanation is given as to how DeepOnion is a decentralized crypto-currency.
The whitepaper now explains the primary features of DeepOnion which are DeepSend, DeepVault etc in an easy to understand manner with examples.
a. DeepSend : Uses a combination of popular technologies like Zero Knowledge, CoinJoin and Ring signatures to anonymize user transactions and makes the transactions effectively untraceable.
b. DeepVault : Allows users to store their files on the blockchain in a secure manner and informs them if the file has been tampered with. Very useful feature in the current digital age.
c. Mobile Wallet : The DeepOnion android wallet is already being developed(Screenshots available) and an IOS version will also release in the near future. The user interface of this wallet is slick in my opinion.
d. VoteCentral: This feature allows a select few prominent members of the DeepOnion community who are given the choice to decide the future of DeepOnion by voting on proposals. This feature clearly demonstrates the decentralized aspect of DeepOnion.
Next, Deeppoints are explained which are basically rewards for community members based on their contributions in the DeepOnion forum every week. Finally, the whitepaper concludes by talking about the bright future of DeepOnion and acknowledges the moderators of the forum for their efforts. Appendices and References have also been included.
This concludes my short summary of the DeepOnion Whitepaper(Alpha) and my main goal here was to make the whitepaper easy to understand for the non-crypto people around the world. Hop on board if you are interested in the next big thing in the crypto world.
Nice summary Andreas, gives a great overview of what DeepOnion is striving for without having to read the whole white paper. Only thing I would add is a direct link to the white paper at the end of the article so anyone who wants to know more can access it easily without having to go searching through the forum menu. https://deeponion.org/White-Paper.pdf
It is a great idea to make a summary of the whitepaper for those who don't have the time to read the whole whitepaper and wanted only to see the gist. Great initiative, mate.
A nice summary of the whitepaper. I would have added a note about the possibility of using "Lightning network", that the Whitepaper mentions, to solve future scalability issues, which is highly relevant. Really like your articles, feel free to check out my review on the Whitepaper: https://steemit.com/deeponion/@mobbe85/deeponion-whitepaper-review
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out your article too and liked how you organized everything in a neat and precise manner. Upvoted!
Thx, lazy people don't like to read whole wp ^^
