A big congratulations and a tip of the hat to @krnel who's deep dive on the USS Liberty was expertly put together, well sourced, concise and clearly presented. Despite what the official record claims, it's plain to see that the attack on the USS Liberty was deliberate and this wonderful piece of research lays bare for all to see. Fantastic work!
We really appreciate all the contributors to the challenge and received valuable entries on a number of fascinating topics. We have to give a shout out to @palikari123 who was the winner of the very first Deep Dives and yet again turned in a hell of a piece on the CIA's In-Q-Tel. Keep up the great research!
This time around we also had another Steemian with firsthand experience with his subject matter. As a young man sent to fight in the Vietnam war, @richq11 witnessed up close the realities of the Phoenix Program and the targeting of civilian populations. A very important point highlighted by @richq11 is the fact that the declassified documents found in the CIA archive omit, holdback, or censor large portions of history.

A Word on Plagiarism
Over the last two weeks we encountered a significant amount of plagiarism using the #deepdives and #informationwar tags.
For the record, we at @deepdives have a zero-tolerance rule for plagiarism, there’s simply no excuse for trying to pass off someone else’s work as your own. We will not hesitate to proportionately flag accounts who engage in copy and paste posting using the #deepdives tag.
That being said, we’re not vindictive or out to destroy reputations and we certainly don’t enjoy flagging minnows. If you’re unsure about plagiarism or how to properly source your material take the time to see how others using the tag are sourcing and quoting their material.
We also hope that you enjoyed digging in the online FOIA CIA documents. We’ll be returning to the archive at a later date for more investigations.

A Return to Wikileaks
As previously mentioned, the Wikileaks archive will once again be the primary archive of the next challenge. We'll provide more details on the next challenge as soon as we can. In the meantime don't hesitate to join us in the chat or drop by to make a suggestion.
