Deep Dives 12 | Coups, Regime Change and Interventionism
Deep Dives 12 Research Challenge
Coups, Regime Change and Interventionism
Included in @krnel's research is perhaps one of the most important documents found in the Wikileaks archive is the 2008 version of the:
Army Special Operations Forces Unconventional Warfare
https://file.wikileaks.org/file/us-fm3-05-130.pdf
Fellow Deep Dives researcher @v4vapid also covered the Special Operations Field Manual using Syria as a backdrop and focusing on the Psychological Operations involved in Unconventional Warfare.
An earlier 2007 edition of the Field Manual was also previously published by Wikileaks in 2009 which itself superseded a 1994 version.
https://wikileaks.org/wiki/US_Special_Forces_Foreign_Internal_Defense_Operations,_FM_3-05.202,_Feb_2007
Wikileaks described the manual as follows:
The document, which is official US Special Forces policy, directly advocates training paramilitaries, pervasive surveillance, censorship, press control, restrictions on labor unions & political parties, suspending habeas corpus, warrantless searches, detainment without charge, bribery, employing terrorists, false flag operations, concealing human rights abuses from journalists, and extensive use of "psychological operations" (propaganda) to make these and other "population & resource control" measures palatable.
On January 28th, 2019, the official Wikileaks Twitter Account explicitly pointed to the document with this tweet.
Describing the document as a "coup manual" that uses a wide range of "instruments of US national power" to achieve it's objectives including "financial weapons" within the framework of Unconventional Warfare.
Normally, @deepdives research focuses on a specific archive such as Wikileaks or the CIA Library. For this challenge, we'd like to see some research relating to the three themes from the title of the post. We leave it up to the contributors to decide where to dig and only ask that you include one or more citation(s) in your research from the archives previously explored in this series.

https://www.cia.gov/library
https://vault.fbi.gov/
https://cryptome.org/
In addition to these substantial databases, we're including a lesser known FOIA archive from the National Security Agency (NSA) and a privately run archive known as The Black Vault.
https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/project/foia
https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/
From the Black Vault website:
You’ve stumbled upon the largest privately run online repository of declassified government documents anywhere in the world. With more than 2 MILLION pages of documents to read, on nearly every government secret imaginable, The Black Vault is known worldwide for getting down to the truth… and nothing but.
Every document in this archive was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Begun in 1996, at the age of 15, John Greenewald, Jr., began hammering the U.S. Government with FOIA requests to obtain information. The Black Vault is the result of that more than two decade effort.
Researchers are encouraged to explore any time period they wish and if they'd like to explore historical events from a classic or unique perspective they're completely welcome to do so. Likewise, if you'd like to make a case in support of "humanitarian intervention" we'd be interested in hearing from you on the subject.
Alternatively, if you'd like to do a deep dive on the the ASOFUW manual highlighted above we highly encourage that as well as there's enough in the 248 page document for it's own separate investigation.
All Archives - The Coups, Regime Change and Interventionism Challenge
Select an area of focus (Coup d'Etat, historical research, the Monroe Doctrine, failed coups, PSYOPS, soft-power, etc) or focus on a region/country where regime change is occurring. Search archives for documentation relating to Coups, Overthrows, Regime Change, Interventionism Build a post around your findings Provide additional sources to make your case and strengthen your position Explain the significance of the leak and why it’s an important piece of news that should be communicated to the public.

I have finally broken down, given up my resistance to your allure, and post an entryfor your edification.
I hope it meets the goals of your challenges, regardless of any encomium or emolument forthcoming. I deeply and natively resonate with your efforts. I honestly thank God for you, and folks like you.
Thanks!
Whoa! This is awesome, we're always looking for new contributors and to have a longtime Steemian and prolific writer like yourself enter the fray, we feel very fortunate. Looking forward to reading your entry and if you have any suggestions to make #deepdives more appealing please give us your feedback.
Cheers!
You can for sure, count me in on this one. :-)
Noice, happy to hear that friend!!!
THIS IS WONDERFULL...
I love designing scenarios and games like this ..
full of research.. even sometimes searching in the deepweb.. so mysterious...
nice..
I'll show everyone how it's done..yayy..
Welcome to #deepdives!
Be sure to check out some of the previous DD research challenges to get a better idea of what it's all about.

When you make a post, you can drop the link in the comments here so we can find it easily ;)
Thanks and good luck to you!
sure..
Thank you.. I'll be tuned for all research challenges from now on..
Good topic, but darn, I made two posts on the topic last time :P Will have to dig around more this time around lol.
Yeah, sorry to make you go back into that rabbit hole one more time, lol. But who knows, you may find something even better! Aspects of the UW manual are absolutely fascinating, maybe delving deeper into the tactics, methods and strategies employed might turn up some very interesting findings. Knowing your track record, I think you'll do just fine ;)
An interesting and enticing topic for a research challenge...Re-steemed to help promote the @deepdives initiative.
Thanks for the resteem, we appreciate it:)
Resteemed, hope it helps
Thank you arthur.grafo much appreciated.
Hmm, noticed an error in the deadline:
So we have a whole month more to get entries in? But April only has 30 days :P ;)
Ah damn it!
Thanks for spotting the error. I think it was suppose to be April 1st 2019 at 12am, originally. Will make the change, I'm sure most people know we meant March 31st.
Thanks again!
It's such a shame that I can't join in on this edition and contribute on such an important topic. I do however really look forward to reading the contributions of others😉!
