I remember a senator saying that the problem with not implementing the death penalty in the USA is that the number of inmates will always grow up, and they will eventually become a burden for the country (from an economic point of view). There are a lot of pros and cons of implementing the death penalty, but the sure thing is that the death penalty is not a miracle remedy, thinking otherwise is a bizarre delusion.

Ideally, the death penalty should be implemented only in countries that have a very high human development index (>1.000), the political environment should also be very stable and democratic because the death penalty was many times used in the past to get rid of political opposition.
