Discover that this mummy is ancestor of boris johnson.
The woman may have died of syphilis.
They find out that this mummy is Boris Johnson's ancestor.
This woman's mummy was found in 1975, buried under the altar of Barfüsser's church in the Swiss region of Basel. But now, a team of researchers from the Natural History Museum in Basel has carried out genetic analyses of these human remains and discovered that it is an ancestor of Boris Johnson, the British Foreign Minister.
Tests revealed that the woman was Anna Catherina Bischoff, a member of a wealthy family, who died in 1787. But it is the case that five generations later, one of his descendants, Yvonne, married Boris Johnson's grandfather. The minister has loved this discovery, and refers to the woman as his "tatara-momia".
Analyses have also found abundant traces of arsenic in the mummy, a substance that used to be used as the usual treatment for syphilis, suggesting that the woman may have suffered and die from this terrible disease.
