RE: $DASH: A pilgrimage wrapped in Obamaphones

in #dash7 years ago

Well we should be thankful for homeless having Obama phones to access the internet for free. But it should remind us that the biggest obstacle to using blockchains is access to the Internet. All "the man" have to do to make you poor is take away the Internet or block all usage of crypto sites and VPNs. What do you think the efforts to kill net neutrality are about?

What we need are the oligarchs and establishment finance industry so invested in crypto that they find they cannot kill our access to it or risk the price crashing and losing their fortunes as well.

But I have to laugh at reports of survivalists acquiring crypto as a hedge against a global apocalypse scenario. Do they really think they can still get reliable internet and that large numbers of miners will still be able to operate in that scenario? Just remember your Obama phone will not be operating for long after the lights go out across the country.

Better hope someone launches a satellite network with a lifetime long enough for society to reboot, or a global collapse resistant network can be established some other way, because syncing your node over a HF radio link at a few kbps might take you a life time...
