It has gotten to the point where we must question everything we digest online. At one time what was presented to us by the media was honest and accountable and to be trusted.
Now it seems we are being led on wild goose chases and given a sense of false security. We think we are standing up for what is right and upholding the virtuous and the good when in fact we are supporting the wrong side.
When Google was first created its motto was "Don't be Evil" now we find that they are in on the act. Data mining is a billion dollar industry and they are at the forefront of it all, working directly with the same government agencies that funded ARPANET to create the internet as a surveillance tool.
We listen to Snowden and Assange believing they are free independent thinkers leading us in the right direction for reform and revolution, only to discover they are promoting the very tools created to spy on us. Veiled in a cloak of "safe space", the wolves are wearing sheep's clothing.
Where do we go from here? Is blockchain the answer? Considering blockchain technology was built to support bitcoin as an exchangeable and untraceable currency to be used in the dark corners of the TOR browsing is it all part of the illusion of security as well?
