Tasteem: Restaurant Reviews Going to Another Level!
Contests motivate people very much. Some people do their best (or even more) to get the desired prize because they need it while others just enjoy the competition itself in the first place. People explore and expand their boundaries and improve their skills because of all kinds of competitions. The new platform called Tasteem is adding an element of a contest to such unexpected sphere as restaurants reviewing!
The DApp is good both as a restaurant reviews platform that helps to choose wisely where to have dinner tonight and as a motivation to explore new places and share your experience with the people. The second part is associated with the contests that prompt people to write reviews and think outside the box in order to get rewarded. Each participant is getting a reward while the winner receives a special prize.
Introducing Tasteem
The name of the project is made of the words "Tasty" and "Steem". The idea of Tasteem is creating personal restaurant guide via sharing the favorable reviews of the places visited by Tasteemers. Every post or guide made by a Tasteem member is rewarded with 1% of voting weight. The posts that hit top10 and top3 of posts associated with the ongoing contest theme bring higher rewards. Also in case if the user supports the Tasteem team with donations he/she gets the higher voting weight. 9% of the rewards are deducted in favor of developers automatically (just in order to support the entire platform).
Each contest usually lasts for a week. The list of finished and ongoing contests can be seen on the front page of the Tasteem website. In the moment of writing of this article, the recently finished contests were dedicated to such themes as "Where to eat for my blind date?", "Beverages with friends", and "Pasta vs Pizza". So as you can see the range of themes is quite wide although all the reviews or posts can be really useful for others.
Tasteem accounts have a connection with Steem profiles. A Steemit profile is enough to run the Tasteem account. The reviews posted on Tasteem are also shared on Steem.
Rules
There are no strict rules of an arrangement of the posts so every user (or it's better to say contributor) can do it in the very own style. Nevertheless, some limitations exist (probably it's fair to say that these limitations encourage people to do the quality content). For instance, each post should contain at least 8 sentences and one or more original photos. The reviews on restaurants that were not visited by the author are regarded as the violation. Disrespectful behavior, the lack of adherence to the contest theme in the contest posts, and the use of upvoting bots can get the user blocked once and forever.
Final Thoughts
Blockchain-based platforms and applications usually have a reward system implemented into the interface. It turns the upvotes into currency so the people can make some money out of their intellect and the ability to share their thoughts and experiences. Tasteem is a vivid example of such new opportunity brought by Blockchain Revolution.
