The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and an important symbol of peace, compassion, and nonviolence around the world. The title “Dalai Lama” means “Ocean of Wisdom.” The current Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the 14th in the line of succession and was born on July 6, 1935, in a small village called Taktser in northeastern Tibet.

He was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama when he was just a child. At the age of 15, he took on full political power as the leader of Tibet. However, after the Chinese government took control of Tibet in the 1950s, the Dalai Lama fled to India in 1959, where he has lived in exile ever since.

Despite being away from his homeland, the Dalai Lama has continued to advocate for the rights of the Tibetan people and promote peace through dialogue. He does not support violence and believes in solving problems through peaceful means. He has received many awards for his efforts, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.

The Dalai Lama teaches people to develop compassion, kindness, inner peace, and understanding. He also speaks about the importance of religious harmony, environmental care, and human values in modern life.

Although he retired from political leadership in 2011, he remains a highly respected spiritual leader around the world.
