RE: Daily Discussion No. 2: "Black Friday" and Holiday Shopping - Too Much Emphasis on Consuming Rather than Connecting?

i love this question
"consuming" replaced "connecting?"
yes its has to a large extent.
I see something similar here with the selling of vests and votes. It completely diverts attention away from connecting onto ROI.
which on one level seems very funny to me because it decreases the growth potential of both the individual users and the platform as a whole.

That's an interesting analogy @joe.public... hadn't actually considered the likeness of Steemit votes and power and... by extension... that this initiative (and another I have in the think tank) is all about trying to reverse that trend.

I feel a growing concern that the intense focus on ROI on Steemit is-- in some way-- like "killing the goose that lays golden eggs." Sure, it's exciting to see how much money you can get for your posts using all manners of gimmicks... but if your actions result in there not BEING a place to get rewards a year from now, then what good is your ROI?
