Steemit and d tube are so fucking difficult to use..

in #d7 years ago (edited)

Uploading photos fails on my posts on steemit,

uploading videos works but the snap is required and doesn’t work

so they don’t work with safarI, chrome or mozilla?

Here is something I’ve found, so yeah, let’s get this working better for mass adoption.

I think I just figured out why this was happening to me on both firefox and chrome (OSX Sierra). There are firewall rules that will sometimes block your connection to the dtube servers.

For example, if you see something like:

"Deny outgoing connections to dtube2.gateway.ipfsstore.it"

"Deny outgoing connections to dtube1.gateway.ipfsstore.it"

That blocks any of the uploads from working. In my case, I am using little snitch, so I was able to adjust these rules.

Just uploaded my first video w/ chrome, and tested a snap/thumbnail failed upload on Firefox after disabling the rules, and that now works.

Give it a try and lmk if that works.

Hi @personallegacy! You have received 0.1 SBD tip + 0.06 SBD @tipU from @cardboard :)

Check out new tipuvote! feature :)

Never had problem with just dragging photos to post editor. anyway tip!

Thanks I’ll get it figured out, but there must be awareness that most mobile users are likely running into these issues also.

Here’s what I’ve found..
