Is IOTA bigger than the blockchain?

So the blockchain hasnt hit its full strides yet and this ledger is set to change networks as we know them, but IOTA has said the block chain has flaws that they have worked out.

I wont try to act like I understand it but it seems it much more flexible and adaptable....
