Worship the Lord: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh. Jeremiah 17:5

In the Sacred Scriptures, the tree symbolizes life, life as a tree is progressive, expansive, and uplifting. The seed grows and develops until it reaches its full development, that is, its own nature, that is why the Kingdom of Heaven is also compared by our Lord Jesus with a mustard seed in the gospels (Matthew 13:31-32).
Worship the Lord and his law teach to us Jeremiah. The prophet Jeremiah following this comparison about the tree and the life, compares us with a metaphor, the life of the righteous man and the sinful man, we have to choose between two discernments, two paths, and two rewards (fruits of the spirit vs works of the flesh, Galatians 5:19-23) as explains the Psalm 1, the Psalm of the two ways.
When men lead a life full of sin and turn their back to God, Jeremiah tells us that they are like the plant that grows in the desert, the desert is a sad and a desolate place, where life, happiness, and joy are something very scarce, and this is logical because sinful people are destructive, chaotic, involutionary, unjust:
"This is what the LORD says:
´Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.´" Jeremiah 17:5-6.
On the other hand, the upright man can be compared to a tree that grows near a river or stream; where there are rivers and streams there is life, joy, well-being, good harvests, in other words, blessings; and this is a consequence of righteous living, righteous people ( "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", Matthew 7:12) whose confidence is in the Lord, work to increase the order and the perfection of the universe:
"´But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.´" Jeremiah 17:7-8.
