Moussem or Mfestival of weddings in Imilchil Morocco

in #culture7 years ago

The festival takes place in the village of Ait Amer, 25 km south of Imilchil, at the crossroads of Rich Roads and Tineghir South East Morocco. It is one of the most famous Moroccan moussems.

It is a tradition of Aït Haddidou which is perpetuated in memory of the time when the nomads met once a year to exchange products. This holiday, which has become essentially a tourist attraction, still allows the tribes of the region to forge links, formerly with a view to an engagement.

The moussem begins on a Friday, the day of the sale of cattle. Saturday is reserved for the sale of necessities. Sunday is the day of folk songs and dances.

The moussem generates a considerable commercial activity: many traders flock from all over the country.

During the fiance party, large tents are erected to accommodate 15 people in real beds. Provide warm clothes and a down because the nights are very cool.
