As cryptocurrency is adapted more by the mainstream, I do see the need for a more simplistic explanations. I had this problem when starting myself. My explanation to family and friends is "it's just like a bank without the the control of your investments being influenced by petrodollar" it's must less confusing if you think of it in those terms.

When looking at wallets and coins to purchase, you are only ever going to get opinions. Nobody wants the responsibility of saying get this wallet use this platform, because it might not be right for you. Just think of it as where you want to invest (in what coins) and where you want to put it (once purchased).

Again like I said the more mainstream. The more places you will be able to use. And eventually it will be as simple as your daily transactions now.

I hope I haven't confused you more. Steemit is a great place to learn just ask, people will help as much as the can here!

Remember it's not confusing just new. I suggest start small. teach yourself with that small amount.
