BARCELONA Major supports the "Cryptocurrency of the City" (REC)
This is a great new I read a few minutes ago.
It seems that "The City Council of Barcelona" will promote as of this month of May the REC aka "Recurso Economico Ciudadano" (or "Citizen Economic Resource" in english), which will begin as a pilot test in ten districts of the Besòs Axis to promote the economy and local commerce, empower to the neighbors and strengthen the associative networks.
REC is a digital currency that has parity with the euro, and allows payments between the card or mobile phone of the client and the mobile of the collaborating establishments instantaneously and without costs, and that is based on the 'blockchain' technology, through the Rec application for mobile or a card with QR code.
The first goal of the initiative is to reach the 100 shops and municipal markets that accept the sale in Rec.
A total of 1.5 MILLION IN REC will be invested by Barcelona's major and around 1,000 families of the Besòs Neighborhood will already receive 25% of the aid in Rec this May, although any citizen can join the network by downloading the 'app'.
Frankly, I didn't have the time to check from where to download the "app" but it looks as a promising project, promoted from Barcelona's major.
Step by step the BLOCKCHAIN technology is becoming more and more mainstream.

Según esta fuente (https://elpais.com/ccaa/2018/04/05/catalunya/1522934920_859413.html) circularán hasta 1,5 millones de euros en REC's hasta Octubre de 2019, realmente no es nada (como bien dice estamos hablando de una prueba piloto).
Y sí, socialismo...
