Pending transaction after withdrawal of IOTA to wallet from Bitfinex exchange - general & ongoing issue affecting several users

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

Hi dear fellow Steemians and Crypto-enthusiasts :-)

Today I decided to write my first article here on Steemit to give you a little bit of an insight/update on a current issue with IOTA/Bitfinex - because this seems to be affecting quite a lot of users...

My goal for now is not to prepare a perfectly shaped article just to keep the information and the discussion rolling... though I am most happy to complete this further if any questions arise... ;-)

Don't know why but for some reason there haven't been any articles written on this relatively new and evolving cryptocurreny for a good while now... though there definitely seems to be a growing interest and demand for it.

Actually I just started digging into IOTA lately and gotten to the point where I downloaded and installed the IOTA wallet successfully, signed up to the Bitfinex exchange (according to my research this is currently the only exchange where you can get IOTA) and aquired some MIOTA (MegaIota) without any difficulties after depositing BTC.

The first withdrawal to my wallet went alright and quick but the second one shows 'pending' (in my wallet) even after approx. 1.5 days... despite it says 'completeted' on Bitfinex. So I was really uncertain what is going on and how to resolve this... (especially as this is more or less the first technical difficulty I experienced, nevertheless I am dealing with several different cryptocurrencies for quite a while...).

Now, after quite a lot of research on https://forum.iota.org/ and https://iotatangle.slack.com I understand that this issue is not related to IOTA or IOTA wallet but seems to be a general issue from Bitfinex side and is ongoing for several weeks now, affecting a lot of users.

Unfortunately Bitfinex seems to be quite slow with informing users and responding to tickets. Though at this point I cannot really confirm this, as I have just addressed this issue towards Bitfinex today (in form of a support ticket).

For the moment I am prepared to wait patiently and hope to get some updates/solution from Bitfinex - as well as yourselves :-) - in the foreseeable future...

I'll keep you updated on the issue, please let me know if any further questions or remarks from your side!

Thanks a lot for your comments and upvotes!

Best regards,

Christian

I tried my first IOTA withdrawal on Bitfinex yesterday but it got somehow cancelled 45 minutes later. My second attempt is been processed for over 18 hours now ... Maybe their problems have not yet been fully resolved ....

Hi all! Let me give you some updates on this: I opened a ticket with Bitfinex on the 23rd July (same day that i wrote this article). Then I had to wait for their first reaction until the 29th (saying that they will have to retransmit the transaction). Then on the 1st August I got another email from Bitfinex, saying that the funds should have arrived to my wallet now - and they did. So it did take quite a while to get them into my wallet but mainly some patience and not much effort from my side... afterwards I initiated the next withdrawel straight away. That one and the next one went through a lot quicker with no further action (ticket opening) required from my side. Though, I can't really say exactly if it was a matter of minutes or hours but definitely the amount has been credited to my wallet when I checked on the next day. So things are improving at Bitfinex, guess this will also have a good effect on the willingness of investors to buy more and thus drive the price further upwards nicely... (as it already happened lately...)! BTW: except this minor technical issue I have not heared any negative feedback or opinion regarding this coin, so I am still bullish and optimistic about it! At the moment my portfolio consists of around 8% IOTA but I might very well stock up on it even more... Keep up the good spirit and best of luck!

:-))
