@louisthomas - To answer your question quickly and succinctly, I think the answer is yes. Currently, we are following precisely the Gartner Hype Cycle as I suspected we would. What I was shocked to see is how quickly it all unfolded. I believe we are now sitting in what's called the Trough of Disallusionment. By early next year, March or April, we should see signs that we have begun diggin our way back out:
