Minimizing Risk Options In Future Selloffs

It's been an absolute blood bath the past few days in the cryptocurrency market. In the past 7 days, Bitcoin is down 8%, Ethereum 22%, Ripple 26%, and many altcoins seeing losses of up to 40 - 50%. With such a huge rise in the past few months, seeing such a significant selloff shouldn't come much of a surprise. Whether you're new to the market or have been living it for the past few years, you understand the ups and downs are significant. It's going to happen again and ideally, we need to learn from this major selloff. Instead of panic selling, like many have already done, how can we better prepare ourselves for future selloffs?
Be an investor, not a trader

A trader enters and exits any market rather quickly. Whether day trading or swing trading, your average holding might be as short as a few minutes to as long as a few weeks. On the other hand, an investor is in it for the long haul. He isn't bothered by major selloffs, but he also doesn't get euphoric when things get parabolic. He looks years down the road and is not interested in the daily price fluctuations. An investor is able to sleep at night without having to worry about what he's going to wake up to the next morning.
Or... wait and stand on the sidelines

If you don't want to change your trading strategy, you have other options. In moments like these, instead of completely exiting out of the market and transfer back into fiat, you have a handful of options that allow you to keep your crypto in crypto. Each of the cryptocurrencies below are pegged to the US Dollar, however prices will fluctuate. With them, you will always be able to exchange them for approximately 1 US Dollar.
1. Tether (USDT)

Available on Poloniex and Bittrex, Tether is, by far, the most popular option out there. On Poloniex, you're able to sell the following for Tether: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic, Ripple, Dash, Zcash, Stellar Lumens, Monero, NXT, Augur. On the other hand, you're only able to sell Bitcoin and Ethereum for Tether on Bittrex.
Price: High: $1.18, Low: $0.91, Current: $1.01
2. Steem Dollars (SBD)

Steem Dollars are also available on Poloniex and Bittrex, however can only be obtained via Bitcoin.
Price: High: $2.35, Low: $0.85, Current: $0.95
3. bitUSD (BITUSD)

Only available on the BitShares Asset Exchange, you can sell a boatload of coins for bitUSD including: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Steem, Tether, Bitshares, among many others. Of the three, bitUSD experiences the least amount of price fluctuations.
Price: High: $1.12, Low: $0.89, Current: $1.01
Note: High/low prices and charts are from the past 3 months.
Very good article. Good to see I'm not the only one that is thinking about this. The crypto market: High risk high gains!. That doesn't mean that a gain is guaranteed though. There's simply no guarantee in anything in life and especially not in a high risk market. I really advice people to take a look at: https://www.coincheckup.com Since I use this site I make so much less basic investment mistakes.
