Banks Building Vaults to hold cryptocurrency.

Hey Guys and Gals!

So going over the news today i came across an article about banks building cryptocurrency vaults. Now my first thought was AWESOME!! This just adds to the ultimate goal of mass adoption. At least for me mass adoption is what its going to take to ensure cryptocurrencies are here to stay forever.

Then i next thought well... central banks holding my crypto really isn't what sotashi and the cypher punks had in mind. Decentralization is one of the most important factors in crypto. Just the ideas and philosophy that have come out of the decentralization movement have been groundbreaking. They have made me view the world, society and the possibilities completely change. For the better. I love the idea that we are in control of our own funds. Its great we finally have a peer to peer way to transfer value. Avoiding western union and other middle men that charge enormous sums of money to in many cases just move data around. Anyway, how do you guys feel about central bank building vaults to store private keys, hard wallets or any other crypto related item?

We could go more into detail:
Pros:

  • Your private keys can be stored in a safe location away from theft, fire or whatever other disaster possible.
  • Keys can be accessed by family in the event of illness or death
  • This signals the next step in mass adoption of cryptocurrencies
  • I am sure there are more... feel free to add to the list of pros
  • Cons:

  • the banks are in control of your keys
  • Banks might be willing to give up your keys to a party you might not want to such as the government
  • You are unable to access your information quickly and or remotely
  • For me the biggest con is the the banks are in complete control of your keys and that for me is a no fly zone
  • What do you guys think? Is this a good thing for the industry? A good thing for the people? Does this completly go against everything Sotashi stood for? Love to see your thoughts!

Cons seem to outweigh the pros here!
