Diving into Crypto:

My journey into the crypto/altcoin world.

Hello Steemit community!

I want to briefly introduce myself as I start this dive. My name is Ben, I am 31 and live in the United States. I am a PADI Scuba Instructor and amateur Freediver. I set a personal best freediving at 100’ deep on a single breath hold at Dean's Blue Hole. (Long Island, Bahamas) This is nothing compared to the Pros but still a figure I am proud of.

I have been a Libertarian since I was old enough to understand our corrupt government and I am forever skeptical of the media.

I have always loved exploring how things work and the path less traveled. Eventually discovered the crypto community. I started researching this environment during the spike in the market May-June 2017. At this point build a mining rig caught my attention. Partly due to the fact that I was very skeptical of what happens if the regulators try to get their grubby hands into the space. Worst case scenario I would have a few sweet GPU’s that I could toss into my rig to play Starcraft II or Overwatch with. Soon after I researched mining rigs I got tied up finishing some renovation projects around the house and did not act on building one.

Towards the end of June I was learning more about Alt Coins and all of these ICO that have been rampant lately. Countless hours and YouTube videos later my wife and I have decided to start investing/playing around in the space. All of my friend think I’m crazy but that is no surprise many pegged me as eccentric years ago…

My Current Plan:

-Invest $1,000 into Cryptocurrency
-Enter the market shortly after the proposed UAHF on Aug 1st for BTC/ BCC (BitCoin/Bit Coin Cash)
(Please note BIP 91 is currently locked in at the time of this post)
-Create a diversified portfolio of alt coins
-Explore trading on the various exchanges.
Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Poloniex and, Bittrex
-Test different wallets.

I am not typically one to take huge risks. I enjoy a good adrenaline rush but typically try to be pretty safe. The approach I am taking in the crypto space is going to be relatively conservative I am only going to put in what I am 100% willing to lose. I am going to treat it like I do when I practice freediving. Go down to 40’ then 60’ next 80’ and if my ears, sinuses and body feel good try 100’ but be willing to abort on the way down if needed. If all goes well and I hit my goal I will keep practicing and venturing into the abyss.

Please stay tuned.

I hope I can answer questions and help fellow newbies in this space.

Cheers,

Ben
