Sola - upcoming contender for steemit and other social networks
Sola is yet another Decentralized Social Network experiment and in this article i will try to give a brief idea about this Sola platform.
What is Sola?
Sola is a decentralized social network that spreads your post like a virus and pays you for it. Since you are all in steemit, i don't have to explain what is a decentralized social network.
How is Sola different from Steemit?
Sola does not require friends or followers for your post to reach to major audience. Every post gets sent to all the nearby users and those users have the option to spread it or just discard it. So even a post by the new user has a capability to reach wide audience unlike Steemit and other social media platform.
Why you never heard about Sola when their first app was launched in Nov 2014?
Sola went through alot of name transformation. Initially it was launched with name 'Plague' (may for their the tag line which says that it spreads your post like a virus). Then they may thought it is a negative name to use and then shorted it to 'Plag' in Mar 2015. But still it sounds like Plague, isn't it?. So finally they changed the name to 'Sola' and released the app in Oct 2017.
If every post gets equal importance then they build the interface?
Unlike Steemit and other social network, you wont see multiple posts in Sola at any point in time. You will receive one post at the time and you get a chance to either spread it or just discard it. This happen with a swipe like Tinder but the difference is that you swipe either swipe up or down. If you want to spread it you swipe up or if you want to discard it then swipe down.
What is the cryptocurrency for Sola platform?
SOL is the utility token and the only currency for Sola platform. Price of Sola will be determined during the Token sale event which is planning to start on Nov 27, 2017 and will end on Dec 22, 2017.
It all sounds interesting and then i went and took a look at the team and was surprised to see all kids as CEO, CTO and CFO. At least they look like kids to me. There is nothing wrong with it but just saying that i was surprised.

Even though the interface is simple, personally i'm not a big fan of this Sola interface. Their approach to make it more decentralized is really good and currently i'm using their app too. I feel i'm more accustomed to steemit, browsing through the list and clicking on the ones which interest me and read more about it. But it has just been one day since i started using Sola app. And i don't think that there is any harm in trying it out.
