Bitcoin as a lever of hope: The Human Rights Foundation supports projects in 20 countries

Bitcoin is more than just a risky investment. It's a growing system of projects. These projects work to create alternatives. The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) supports this. They gave 1 billion satoshis to Bitcoin projects.

The HRF gave $590,000 to 20 projects last year. In April, they announced more grants. They gave 10 BTC, or 1 billion satoshis. Over 20 projects around the world got this money. This helps Bitcoin's system grow. It also defends human rights. This is important where internet and money are hard to get.

Some projects are very creative. Bitcoin Babies in Kenya helps fight child hunger. It also teaches mothers about money using Bitcoin. Each week, mothers get Bitcoin. They also learn how to support themselves.

Bitsacco improves Kenyan financial groups. It uses Fedimint and Bitcoin. This gives local groups control of their money. They do not need to use banks.

The Bitcoin Development Fund (BDF) helps useful and human crypto projects.

The HRF started the BDF in 2020. It has given over $7.8 million in Bitcoin to 284 projects. These projects are in 62 countries. They make Bitcoin more private, secure, and strong.

The BDF does not fund trading or risky projects. It focuses on social good, education, and money access. These topics are often forgotten in the crypto world. Many people only care about profit.

This year, the fund supported projects like:

Vinteum: It trains Bitcoin developers in Latin America. The Core: It is a Lightning Network education program in Kenya. Stable Channels: It reduces Bitcoin's price changes. It does not change user control. Base58 LARP: It is a game to learn about Bitcoin. Cashu KVAC: It improves transaction privacy.

Should activists fund Bitcoin development? Should it not be regular investors?

The HRF does not need banks. It takes Bitcoin donations. Then, it gives the money directly. There is no blocking or paperwork. This freedom is what it wants to give to others. The goal is a world without blocking. Everyone can control their money, voice, and rights. Bitcoin can help make this happen.
