So I'm trying this Exodus Wallet thingy mcjigger

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago

For the longest time I've been seen all these youtubers use this wallet and maybe the hot cognition existed in my head because of it. I mean, a few of them claimed to have been hacked hundreds of bitcoins. But today thanks to @zyx066 I've taken the road down exodus road. Will I regret it? Probably not.

This application is so easy to use, it scares me a little bit. How is it that something related to crypto does not require me reading two manuals and troubleshooting for twenty minutes. Times have changed, times have changed indeed. Now, I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with this wallet, or that this is even the best option out there. I'm simply stating I'm surprised on how easy it is to install and use.

I'm looking around, reading a bit on their website and watching videos and I can't for the life of me see how these people got hacked. What would it take for someone to hack this wallet? The way things are stored does not seem to be too conducive to such events, unless I'm missing something.

If you, my dear reader are familiar with this wallet and you can tell me the "no, no" list I would really appreciate it. Aside from the obvious which is don't give anyone your passphrase, it does not seem like there is something a user would have to do to prevent waking up to urges of burning the laptop on a gas grill.

I just thought of the fact that now I don't have an excuse not to be a DOGE whale along @clayboyn. I mean, it's right there, I just gotta start slapping that on reddit and ask people to help me get back home or something (I'm joking just in case anyone wonders).

Anyways, fun little app, I think Im going to enjoy it for months to come. For now, I will let Morpheus and Mr Pillow tell me a story or two. It's getting too late for this sapiens to think properly and the wine did not help.

Night night...

I recently used it and it lacked some features that any desktop client should offer, though I sort of see the reasoning. I was trying to import a specific private key, but it only allows sweeping of addresses. This is good for people who might not know what they're doing and only have their HD seed. But other HD wallets like Electrum still offer the ability to spend using an imported private key rather than only being able to sweep them.

oooh i see.. that is big points against it there. thank you for that info, this kind of changes plans a bit for me... but just a bit.

Only big if you don't want to sweep from your existing Ethereum account for instance. But anything swept is now on the keys that the wallet's seed phrase backs up, so treat it preciously if any large amount is added to Exodus.

I assume the reason they only sweep is because a newbie might think their funds are backed up with the Exodus HD seed phrase if they imported a key, and they wouldn't be.

Oh I've printed it and put it inside my safe... someone would need to fight a rabid chinchilla to get to it, so I know its pretty safe in there.

I wanted to get my hands in some EOS, nothing crazy, just because of the upcoming air drops and such.

I have used it too. It's really easy to use for newbies but I found the fees to transfer your crypto out were a bit higher than other wallets. I now mainly use a Trezor wallet.

I think if I intended to hold a lot of crypto on it, I would probably go for a hardware wallet instead. probably.

hacking is probably done by malware installed on the system, but Exodus closed source is a big NO

no doubt there is something that does not feel right about closed source in this space, right? no doubt... i was thinking that yesterday, since they have no github and i've come to expect it.

I find Exodus an awesome wallet, I have been using it since Autumn last year or so

If we look hard enough, we always find thinds we don't like about anyone or anythig. I think that us humans are programmed to not trust things that are easy to use. Just like we think that everything needs to be hard work. While it might actually mean that we are approaching things the wrong way.

Anyhow, this is my favorite crypto wallet by far and I'm sure you will enjoy using it :>)

Have a great day,

Vincent

so far so good, so i think im going to stick with it for now!

Cool! I'm sure you will like it :>)

Everyone keeps telling me to get this and I have not. Not leery, just lazy on this one- priorities.

Lets send DOGE to each other!!! lets do it!!!

This was exactly my thoughts when i tried the app as well, infact it seemed to good i deleted it. Maybe i will get it back, hopefully its as safe

Well, if i find negative things about it, i'm sure i'll share. that being said pfunk just said something that is a big point against it for many...

Exodus wallet has good reputation as most people use it,it easy to use,it's an advantage, although you may have doubts but with time it will clear.

Are you going to buy EOS?

i might, are you implying because of the upcoming airdrops I should?

you meant about EosDAC? I just found out about the airdrop lol. I just think people in general should invest in both EOS and STEEM. EOS will outperform STEEM i think. EOS use cases is more huge than STEEM.

i might, a bittle lit... just a bittle lit...

It took me almost a minute to figure out what's bittle lit xD

I like your post I can get information from your post, good luck friend.
