What is STORJ? | How to set-up STORJ wallet and Farming STORJ
STORJ, the peer-to-peer cloud storage network!
STORJ's Abstract from their Whitepaper:
"A peer-to-peer cloud storage network implementing client-side encryption
would allow users to transfer and share data without reliance on a
third party storage provider. The removal of central controls would mitigate
most traditional data failures and outages, as well as significantly
increase security, privacy, and data control. Peer-to-peer networks are
generally unfeasible for production storage systems, as data availability
is a function of popularity, rather than utility. We propose a solution in
the form of a challenge-response verification system coupled with direct
payments. In this way we can periodically check data integrity, and offer
rewards to peers maintaining data. We further propose a model for
addressing access and performance concerns with a set of independent or
federated nodes."
I have been asked plenty times lately, what exactly is STROJ?
STORJ is a cryptocurrency, also known as an altcoin. STORJ's goal is to provide a decentralized cloud storage network. Similar to Google drive and Dropbox, it allows users to store information in a peer-to-peer network.
I own a few external harddrives that were laying around accumulating dust, so I figured I would repurpose them for something useful. In total, I have about 3 TB in active storage available to farm STORJ tokens.
After about a month of farming out storage in this decentralized network, I was able to acquire 79 GB worth of encrypted files. Below I have attached a progress video that was uploaded about half way through the month.

FAQ:
What Makes STORJ different?
STORJ is ran on a public blockchain. This is what allows nodes inside of this network, to store information in a peer-to-peer fashion. No third parties, really low transaction fees.
What wallets can I use to store STORJ token?
Parity, Mist, and MyEtherWallet are all listed inside of the STORJ share software. Any wallet that has STORJ available will be compatible to store STORJ tokens, I personally use MyEtherWallet.
