Ask Steemit: The real deal on RoI and miners

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

I've been watching the mining community for a while, mostly from the sideline. And I see one question repeatedly asked over and over again, with seemingly the same answer provided through the years. The question, "Is mining still profitable? Or have I missed the boat?". Now, the answers provided always seems to be: Yes, it's too late, and here is the reason why...

The question I have, is are these people telling others not to get in to mining doing so for selfish reasons? I see 3 reasons why people would be saying that others should not start mining.

  1. Greed. Don't want more miners driving the price of crytocurrency X down.

  2. Haters. Don't have the money to make a real investment in to mining, jealously try to prevent others from making an investment.

  3. Doom & Gloomers. Perpetually believe in an impeding crash of crytocurrency.

Am I missing any reasons why people say that other should not invest? My gut says that it is mostly people falling under category 1, and simply don't want competition.
