Nice article. Just since it was the first doesn't mean Bitcoin is the best. In terms of popularity and use (and using it as a tool in exchanges to get the coin you want) yes it's still the standard. But many improved coins have/will be out there.
I have a lot of love for BTC and I think will always hold a special place in my heart. Although it might turn into more of a nostalgia then where I continue to look for new innovations.
