Great article! There's definitely a relationship between Steemit, VoteCentral and DeepOnion. They are all community driven that's for sure. VC and Steemit are based on a similar voting concept as well.
There are similarities, and steemit has great potential, but is run by whales and got a massive total supply, 40 times that of $ONION, and I feel that DO are far a head when it comes to decentralization at least!
