Lisk - Better Than Ethereum? | Re-Branding & SDK Launch | Technical Analysis

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Lisk has been a crypto currency that stayed under the radar till now. Although it has a lot of similarities with Ethereum specially in prospect of providing a framework to developers for creating their own blockchain application. We know that ether is the very first technology to bring smart contracts to blockchain at the same time not the Last. Their are many other cryptos providing with similar solution in better ways. One of them is Lisk.

What is Lisk?

Lisk is a framework for developers to build their blockchain on top of Lisk Network. unlike Ethereum, Lisk SDK will be based on JavaScript which will make more and more developers to jump into blockchain development. As we know JavaScript is the most common language among almost every developer. As we have seen most of the ICOs launched in 2016-2017 based on ethereum platform. One can only imagine, by providing a Software Development Kit and enabling developers to develop their blockchain JavaScript will result lot more technologies being developed.

One of the top most reason for calling Lisk...

A Developer Friendly Blockchain Platform
&
Wordpress of Blockchain

But this is not all, Ethereum has a downside with their framework which is every ERC20 token is directly connected with Etherrum blockchain based upon their smart contract technology. On the other hand lisk has come up with a new option/solution called "Sidechain".

What is Sidechain?

Lisk is providing a wonderful solution of sidechain, being a Blockchain development platform. Technically any cryptos created with Lisk platform will have their own separate blockchain which will provide an additional upper hand and more freedom to developers.

If for any reasons Lisk network gets into congestion, there will be no impact on sidechain applications.

Lisk Specifications

Consensus: DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake)
Block Reward: 4 LSK
Block Time: 0.167 Minutes
Circulating Supply: 117 Million
Circulating Supply: Unknown

Current Status

Lisk is currently trading at $27 on bittrex and available on various exchanges including Binance. Lisk's Delegated Proof of Stake provides an amazing feature whereas coin holders can not only vote to their favorite nodes but also at any point of time, they can un-vote a respective node which they think is not good for the network for many reasons.

Re-Branding & SDK Launch

This has already mentioned on Lisk's official blog as well as their website Lisk.io that Lisk is going for a re-brand. which would be very interesting to see, what will be their new brand name. However the biggest announcement is that they are going to launch their SDK "Software Development Kit" on February 20th 2018. Which i believe to be a turning point for Lisk Foundation.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Lisk. please leave your comments below and let's spread the knowledge together.

Note: I am not a financial advisor by any means, However i strongly believe in knowledge sharing and post based upon my own research. I strongly advise everyone to do your own research before investing in any crypto-currency.

Thanks for this post , I Have been holding lisk quite a while , I am happy there are others in my camp .. I will follow along., jkenny

@jkenny thank you, i really appreciate it and yes i am in your camp too... :)

I am not a programmer by trade but get the fundamental concept. If something is easy for people to learn they will learn it and thrive on it. So equating LSK to be easier to use than ETH I can understand. It sounds very similar to Steem. Where if it simple enough to learn people can thrive on Steemit. I know LSK's delegation of stake is one of my favorite ways to earn passive income. Their forks of ARK and RISE also has my attention. Thanks.

Great technical analysis! Good value...

I did an analysis on GOLEM:

Lisk does look like a good platform. I am not a crypto expert but neon and eos are great platforms too and don’t have scalability issues like ethereum.

I am loving EOS too. Also, Lisk seems to have a weird voting system; you have to spend a LISK to vote? And another to change a vote? This strategy seems a bit bogus if you want people to stay invested in the Lisk network.

I think LUXCORE is even much better than Lisk

@piotras will be checking it out :) thanks for pointing it up...

I'm a long term holder and truly believe in the platform. The team is very active and the project solves one of Ethereum's main issues: finding developers for Solidity or learning the language. It can't get any simpler than JavaScript.

@elmagnoon couldn't agree more, I believe we are gonna see more projects being developed on Lisk than Ether...

Promising coin!In the future, it will grow.Although I like ripples most of all!;)

Thank you for the post;) I will download the SDK and try to build something on Lisk infrastructure. I think that Lisk has a big potential to use in many applications.

Thank you for sharing such valuable information about LISK.

Lisk does look like a good platform. I am not a crypto expert but neon and deos are great platforms too and don’t have scalability issues like ethereum.

It's great project and i have some, but great project not always means great success :) by any mean i'm not saying it wont succeed overall, but we can not see price mooning. Harsh reality, head down, great post @bunnychum :) easy to read, looking forward for more content.

@blockhunter thank you, i really appreciate your comment. I guess we need to wait and see how does Lisk perform near or after re-branding and SDK launch. :)

What's the market cap for it? And are you saying that it's going to overtake Ethereum as the new platform for building tokens?

@themanwithnoname i do believe so, as JS is the most common language with almost every developer, once can only imagine, what Lisk is bringing to the table. Market cap for Lisk is currently $3.4 billion

Yeah, JS is the starting point for most people. That's a comparatively modest market cap, so it should have room to run if they start getting more adoptions and are seen as a viable competitor. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks!
