You're right about most of the TA out there: professional or amateur - most of it is very poor!

But don't let quantity fool you: a good analyst can make predictions, statistically significantly beyond the realm of "pure gamble". Just because thousands of 25 year olds bought the December hype doesn't mean that everyone is weak-handed fool who buys high and sells low.

For TA: avoid the Elloitt Wave crowd, they deluded. Avoid short-term predictions. Look at long-term trends and patterns, they are the most reliable.
