B-Cash Was 51% Attacked and This is Not Big News?

in #cryptocurrency5 years ago (edited)

Some of the story is here and here.

Have a listen here: GuysTake_015 - The Bcash 51% Attack

So what's the deal? Even if it was to "stop bad guys," this is a huge security issue, is it not? There seems to be a lot of centralization with B-Cash and it's apparently simple to take over and change the "immutable" ledger at will.

What do you have to say about this, @rogerkver?

The fact that not much has happened yet in the B-Cash (BCH) markets may be a sign that nobody is paying attention to B-Cash...and/or that the only ones buying in are the people that essentially own/control the blockchain.

While these dudes argue about which Bitcoin is faster, us BROs are just having fun playing casino games and thinking about the 3-second speed of the @SteemNetwork blockchain...and the fact that transactions are free! https://t.co/tBSsvug48c#steem #brosino #brosgn #gaming

Wow... Thanks a lot for the links mate! I was looking for more information related to this topic.
This is very interesting, because comparing this reorg with the one eventually thought by Binance related to the 7000BTC hack, the responses were completely inexistent in this, or at least were out of the spotlight.
I question how something like this can be kept secret? What kind of coin is BCASH today? I don't hold any, and even the ones from the fork I sold as fast as I could after replays were impossible, but I think that these acts open significant precedents that this crypto space should take very seriously.

I had high hopes for BCH. Big dissapointment for me 😔

For now, I don't think bch has been widely adopted like expected but I believe in the future it will

BCH Bitpay uses BCH and the fees are less than a cent! Bitcoin wants $4 bucks from me just to buy stuff!

3 out of 20 top Mcap coins have experienced a re-orged in one way or another.

Who's next?

Concentration yes, idk if I'd call it centralization as it's about the distribution, but the fact that they came together, I guess that could be considered centralization, a bit confusing for sure. What's gonna happen IMO is that this is going to blow in their face soon.
