2 Factors that reduces your Steemit Earnings

in #crypto7 years ago

I intend to make this post very brief so you don't get bored while trying to grasp the concept.

  • Downvoted/flagged post

unnamed (1).png
I recently joined the Steemit community with a good intent, to add value and make meaningful contributions.
My awkward experience
I Made a post on a topic i found interesting and immediately got a downvote from the author and unknown to me i felt it was an upvote.

Note : both upvote and downvote has vote written beside but to tell which is a downvote, you have to click on the down triangle - like icon and the vote with the (-) indicates a downvote.

This is a trap every one should avoid. The newbies should learn to avoid short comments on post. As this can be mistaken as a SPAM.
plagiarism should be avoided at all cost. Also wrong use of Tags Etc.

But the hard truth is that you can get flagged for no reason. Maybe the one downvoting your post doesn't share same view with you.

I would advise you avoid getting into a misunderstanding with a whale or a dolphin. You might lost all your earnings if you do.

  • EXCESSIVE EARNINGS FROM A FEW TOP STEEMIANS.

GROUP OF B ADDED AND LEAV 20161107_103547.jpg
You may wonder how this may affect your earnings but the truth is that the crypto world in general controls the amount of coin/dollar released. This helps to maintain the value of the currency. To maintain this balance your earnings may be adjusted accordingly

My second Awkward experience

My second post fetched me a few SBD. And i was a lil satisfied. But at the close of the day i noticed the value had dropped. This most logical explanation i got to this was the one given by

@thecryptofiend
"There is no mystery about this.
When you click to vote it forces
the dollar value for the votes for
that post to update. Before you
clicked it you may have been
looking at an older value.
As for why the dollar value of the
vote tally varies from minute to
minute it is not that complicated.
The value of each vote is
dependent on how many people
vote each day and the price of
Steem.
This is because the amount of
Steem produced each day is fixed
and hence a fixed amount of this
is available as payment for posts
via voting.
The values are only estimates and
are likely to vary over time based
on the difference between the
number of people actually voting
and the prediction system which
determines the value of the vote.
In addition to this the actually
moment to moment value of Steem
will also vary which will also
affect the figure.
To be honest given all the
variables it surprising that it does
not change more often.".

I hope you don't learn the hard way.

Don't you think it would be a good idea to notify users in the event of a downvote? I mean what if it's a genuine mistake? Notifications would help in avoiding the same mistakes in the future.

Yeah I had been wondering the very same.

You are perfectly right. Although you sometimes get notification if the downvote is from a witness but that is not enough as they are not the only ones who downvote posts

I actually noticed in one of my older posts the upvotes were the same number if people but the $ stayed the same

Yes it works that way too but it also depends on the steem power of the individuals that voted

true and you can check your voting power at steemworld.org/

This is really explanatory. I've always wondered about down votes and you just explained it. Thanks for this.
