I have done a power down in each of the last two months, the funds are used to supplement my income.
My first year I didn't power down for anything and I'm really glad I didn't. Now, when I actually need some funds to get me through the month, I can do a power down and then get busy writing more to replace what I withdraw and add some.
Steemit not only motivates me to write but I can see results from my writing even when I don't power down because then I have a savings fund that is going to grow with the currency.

As I said its ok to power down and I have no judgement about it. Seems like you have your reasons for doing so.

@shadowspub, just keep it minimal :-) Your montly rewards will at least double if reward pool of Steemians goes back to Steemit, it's worth it...
by doing the power down only once a month and continuing to post as regular as possible, it is very minimal.
